I made a stand from a piece of oak and a brass rod. It works great for displaying the birds.

White Dove

White Dove

One of my painted birds. A rarity. As much as I like the natural wood look, the paint brings a different kind of life to them.

White Cedar dove (with eyes)

Dove SideDove back

One of my recent creations.  This one turned out pretty good as far as the symmetry goes.  It is difficult to get nice balance with the wings due to the wood wanting to rebound back to it’s original position while it is drying.  I usually look at the bird throughout the drying process and make adjustments when needed.

Fanning out feathers for a wood fan bird

this is not the most exciting video, but it shows the magic of the wood fan carving.
